Man dies in single vehicle accident on the Glenn Highway near Eagle River

EAGLE RIVER, Alaska — A man died in an accident on the Glenn Highway when his vehicle left the highway and crashed into a fence.

KTUU-TV (http://is.gd/iLaWYP) reports that the one-vehicle accident occurred Wednesday afternoon near Eagle River at about 3:50 p.m. as the driver was heading toward Anchorage. The vehicle ended up on its side after striking the fence.

Police identified the driver as 62-year-old Campbell Kirk McKellar. His most recent address was in Wasilla.

Police said the car was traveling at an appropriate speed when it changed lanes and swerved onto the shoulder of the road and then drifted toward the fence.

Two lanes were closed for about two hours while police investigated the crash.
