2 arrested in shooting that left Georgia toddler dead, brother wounded

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say two men have been arrested in a double shooting that killed a 2-year old girl and left her brother wounded.

Police spokesman John Chafee Wednesday said 21-year-old Montez Thompkins and 23-year-old Jeremy Thompkins were arrested in a shooting that left 2-year-old Ty-Teyanna Motley dead and her brother critically injured in south Atlanta.

Motley's grandmother told investigators she awoke to the sound of gunfire Nov. 3, 2012 and saw that the children — who were lying next to her on a sofa bed — had been wounded.

Chafee says both men were served with warrants for murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and reckless conduct. The men were taken to the Fulton County jail and it is unclear if they have attorneys.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear.
