ATHENS, Georgia — Officials from the U.S. Attorney's office say they're preparing to host an annual conference focused on school safety in Athens.

The U.S. Attorney's Middle District of Georgia office is partnering with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and others to host the conference titled "Safety In Our Schools" July 8 -10.

Officials say educators, school resource officers and others will have a chance to get 16 hours of training during the conference.

Organizers say the forum is expected to cover several topics including managing campus tragedies, emergency preparation and more.

The event is being hosted at the University of Georgia Hotel and Conference Center.
