Man who showed up in security uniform sentenced to 4 to 10 years in bank robbery

BRATTLEBORO, Vermont — A man has been sentenced to four to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to assault, robbery and grand larceny in connection with a bank robbery last year.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports (http://bit.ly/1J2aTVe) 69-year-old David Abbott of Gardner, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty Monday in a plea deal with prosecutors to robbing the Brattleboro Savings & Loan in November.

Police said Abbott showed up wearing a security uniform and asked to speak to the manager about savings accounts and other banking business.

Abbott then said he was robbing the bank and had a gun with him. The manager said Abbott threatened her and her family.

He apologized in court to the people he frightened at the bank that day.
