BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — Federal prosecutors say a Birmingham drug dealer has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Authorities said Wednesday that 41-year-old Artavis McGowan was sentenced to 23 years and four months in federal prison on drug charges.

Investigators say McGowan was involved in trafficking at least 33 pounds of cocaine.

Prosecutors say DEA agents seized six bricks of cocaine, heroin and other drugs from a house that McGowan and his accomplices used to store the drugs in. Agents also seized more than $341,600 in cash from the house.
