18-year-old shot by St. Louis police charged with unlawful use of a weapon

ST. LOUIS — An 18-year-old St. Louis man who was shot by police after pointing a gun at officers has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch ( ) reports Tyre Boyce was charged Thursday and is being held in the St. Louis City jail on $30,000 cash-only bond.

Boyce was shot by police after officers responded to a call of suspicious persons involved in drug sales from a blue Dodge Neon. As police approached the car a passenger hastily exited the car and ran while holding a firearm.

Police say Boyce was shot in the leg after he turned toward the officers and pointed the gun at them. He continued to run while armed and entered a home before later coming out unarmed and being arrested.
