Central Indiana man gets 3 life sentences for fatal stabbings of twin, dad, landlady

LEBANON, Ind. — A judge has sentenced a Boone County man to three consecutive life sentences for the fatal stabbings of his twin brother, father and landlady.

The sentence handed down Thursday by Boone Superior Court Judge Rebecca McClure against 21-year-old Barney Chamorro precludes the possibility of parole.

Chamorro pleaded guilty in January to the 2010 slayings of 51-year-old Alejandro Chamorro Sr., 18-year-old Alejandro Chamorro Jr. and 55-year-old Judy Schindler. Schindler was leasing space to the Chamorros in her home in Whitestown, about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis.

Testimony during a two-day sentencing hearing revealed the victims were stabbed a total of 37 times, including 20 wounds suffered by Chamorro's twin.

Chamorro was arrested two days after the slayings at a rest stop near Midland, Texas.
