GILBERT, Arizona — Gilbert police say a Chandler man has been arrested in the shooting death of a Gilbert man.

Police said 18-year-old Randy Clark was arrested early Thursday morning in the Wednesday evening shooting of 22-year-old Jovante Griffin.

Gilbert police Sgt. Jesse Sanger said the homicide apparently resulted from an illegal drug transaction.

Sanger said police received numerous calls about a shooting in the area of Greenfield and Warner roads and that responding officers found Griffin fatally wounded. He died at a hospital.

An 18-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet but she did not need to be treated at a hospital.

Sanger said Clark was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder. It's not clear whether Clark has an attorney.
