Avoyelles school board holds special meeting to deal with Supt. Dwayne Lemoine retirement

MARKSVILLE, Louisiana — The Avoyelles Parish School Board has scheduled a special meeting to accept a notice of retirement of Superintendent Dwayne Lemoine.

The Town Talk reports ( ) Lemoine issued his notice by email last week after seven and a half years at the helm of Avoyelles public schools. He cites a disconnect with the school board as one reason behind his decision to retire at the end of the semester.

Lemoine said the board's decision last week not to support his recommendation to terminate an employee was an indication that the time was right to retire.

Board President Darrell Wiley says the school board will hold a special meeting Wednesday night to accept Lemoine's notice of retirement and begin the search for a new superintendent.
