Suburban man sentenced to 30 years in prison in sexual assault case

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Illinois — An Arlington Heights man has been sentenced to 30 years in state prison for sexually assaulting three children.

In a news release, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart's office says that 44-year-old Daniel Sims was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal abuse of a child.

The release says that the investigation began in November 2011 when one of the victims reported to authorities that she had been sexually assaulted by Sims between 2006 and 2011.

The release says that investigators found more than six million images of Sims' victims engaging in sexual acts.
