Teen struck and killed by SUV in Miller Place, Long Island

MILLER PLACE, New York — Authorities say a 16-year-old boy was struck and killed while crossing the street on Long Island.

John Luke was pronounced dead shortly after the accident in Miller Place Tuesday night.

Suffolk County police say the Miller Place resident was crossing Route 25A when he was struck by a SUV.

The driver remained on the scene. He was treated for trauma and released.

His car was impounded for a safety check.
