NEW ORLEANS — Despite rain and cold in the forecast, thousands lined the traditional parade routes overnight to get a prime spot for Mardi Gras — New Orleans' biggest free show.
Mark Nelson, of St. Louis, will be attending his first Fat Tuesday. He says he's going to be in the mix even in a downpour.
The rain was expected to arrive sometime after 10:00 a.m. CST which means the krewes of Zulu and Rex are likely to get wet.
Zulu's 2014 Witch Doctor, Derek Rabb, of New Orleans, is charged with praying for the krewe's good health and good weather on Mardi Gras day. He says revelers should expect sunshine.
When out of costume, Rabb works at New Orleans-based Entergy Corp. He says by God's grace, there will be sun.
