CASPER, Wyoming — A Casper woman accused of burning an infant's face with a hot saucepan and shaking the baby hard enough to require trauma care has denied several charges.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (http://goo.gl/d1bcwB ) 25-year-old Stephanie Shirts pleaded not guilty Thursday to four counts of child abuse, four counts of child endangerment with methamphetamine and one count of aggravated child abuse. She's accused of burning the girl, causing a brain injury and suffocating her with a blanket before resuscitating her.

An emergency room doctor contacted police Sept. 16 after the infant's 24-year-old mother, Bobbi Humphreys, brought the baby to the hospital.

Humphreys has pleaded not guilty to four counts of child endangerment with methamphetamine and one count of misdemeanor child endangering.
