HENDERSONVILLE, North Carolina — A 40-year-old Henderson County man is accused of killing his father with a baseball bat in their home.

Henderson County authorities said in a release Friday that Joey Butler is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 66-year-old father, Terry Butler.

Deputies responding to a 911 call found Butler dead Thursday morning in their home near Mountain Home. An autopsy is scheduled Friday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

The sheriff's release says Joey Butler was arrested Thursday night not far from the home.

Arrest warrants accuse him of hitting his father in the head with a wooden baseball bat. His bond is set at $200,000.
