Family members: Man fatally shot while walking to Detroit bus stop on way to job in suburbs

DETROIT — Family members say a 19-year-old man has been fatally shot on Detroit's west side while walking to a bus stop to get to his job in the suburbs.

Police say a vehicle carrying four people stopped around 4:30 a.m. Thursday and two men got out, firing multiple shots.

Chania Ventura tells The Detroit News the man who died was Patrick Jones Jr., her brother. She says he was a "good kid" who got up before dawn to catch a bus to his job at an employment agency.

Jones' mother, Chrease Chisolm, tells the newspaper her son had been shot a few years ago while talking on the phone outside her home.

Officer Adam Madera tells the Detroit Free Press it's unknown whether the man who died knew the attackers.
