BAKERSFIELD, California — Authorities in Kern County say a woman has been found dead in a jail infirmary cell but there's no indication of foul play.

The sheriff's office says the 24-year-old Bakersfield woman was in the infirmary at Lerdo Jail's pretrial facility Friday afternoon when she was found to be unresponsive.

Jail personnel and medical staff performed CPR but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name and other details weren't released.

Authorities say she had no signs of trauma or injury but an autopsy will be needed to determine how she died.
