Shreveport airports get more than $30 million in upgrades


SHREVEPORT, Louisiana — More than $30 million will be spent to upgrade the Shreveport Regional Airport and the Downtown Airport over the next few years.

Bryant Francis, the director of airports for the Shreveport Airport Authority, tells KTBS-TV ( ) most of the renovations will take place outside. Francis says projects include resurfacing taxi ways, replacing ramps over Tech Air and replacing guidance signs. Some of the taxi ways at the Downtown Airport will also be rehabilitated.

Officials say $8.75 million will be spent on 13 projects at Downtown Airport. At Shreveport Regional, $32.5 million will be spent on 11 projects.

Francis expects all of the upgrades will be completed by 2017.
