Sheriff: 25-year-old man kills father and wounds stepmother in Abbeville County

Share/Save/Bookmark

ABBEVILLE, South Carolina — Investigators say a 25-year-old man shot and killed his father and wounded his stepmother in their Abbeville County home.

Sheriff Ray Watson said deputies arrested Duffy Grogan around 2 a.m. Friday after finding his father, Charles Grogan, dead from a gunshot wound to the neck and his stepmother suffering from several gunshot wounds in the abdomen.

Watson says investigators think they might have a motive for the shooting, but he wasn't ready to share it publicly. The sheriff says there wasn't a history of violence in the home.

Duffy Grogan is charged with murder and attempted murder. He is awaiting a bond hearing, and it wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
