Philly-area mayor held for trial on false imprisonment, other charges in incident at his home

MARCUS HOOK, Pennsylvania — A Philadelphia-area mayor has been held for trial on charges of false imprisonment, recklessly endangering another person and other counts in connection with an encounter with a 20-year-old man at his home in February.

The Delaware County Daily Times reports (http://bit.ly/102Eo2o ) 38-year-old Marcus Hook Mayor James "Jay" Schiliro also faces charges of providing alcohol to a minor and official oppression. The Republican dropped his bid for re-election after his March arrest, but is vowing to finish his term. He declined comment after Tuesday's hearing.

Authorities allege Schiliro gave the man three glasses of what he believed to be wine before asking him to perform a sex act and becoming distraught when he refused.

Schiliro's attorney, Michael Malloy, says the alleged victim arrived at the house voluntarily and had opportunities to leave.
