Assumption Sheriff: Apparent murder-suicide leaves husband, wife, dog dead


LABADIEVILLE, Louisiana — Assumption Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that left a husband, wife and their dog dead.

The Advocate reports ( ) deputies found Leigh Richardson Bourgeois and Jamie John Bourgeois, both 42, in their home Wednesday after a Thibodaux business called the sheriff's office about an employee who had not showed up for work.

Sheriff Mike Waguespack, in a news release, said the Bourgeoises were dead from apparent gunshot wounds inside their home in Labadieville.

The dog was also found dead.

The bodies were taken by the Assumption Parish Coroner's Office to the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
