Bond set for Perkinston man accused of DUI crash in mother's death

WIGGINS, Mississippi — A 22-year-old Perkinston man has been arrested on a felony charge of driving under the influence of alcohol in a holiday crash that killed his mother.

The Sun Herald reports ( ) Stone County sheriff's deputies arrested Brandon Beech at his home Friday.

He is being held at the county jail, where his bond was set Monday at $150,000.

Authorities say 44-year-old Mylinda Beech, of Gulfport, died over the Fourth of July weekend in a one-vehicle crash in McHenry.

Investigators believe her son was speeding when the car he was driving ran off the road at a sharp curve.

Sheriff's Lt. Lewis Husband says Brandon Beech had a blood-content alcohol level of 0.269, more than twice the state's legal limit.

It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
