DeKalb County teen to be tried as adult in stabbing death of 2-year-old sister

DECATUR, Georgia — A 14-year-old DeKalb County girl will be charged as an adult in the stabbing death of her 2-year-old sister.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://bit.ly/11PDac9) the teen was indicted on charges of murder, aggravated assault, child cruelty and making false statements.

The girl's sister was found in the backyard of her family's home in Decatur with multiple stab wounds Nov. 19. Authorities say the teen initially told her parents and investigators the girl was missing and later told them she didn't know how the girl died.

The Associated Press typically does not identify juvenile crime suspects. The teen has been held in the DeKalb County juvenile detention center since she surrendered to authorities.
