BRIDGEWATER, New York — A 29-year-old Utica man has been sentenced to 2 ½ to 7 years in state prison for the drunk-driving crash that killed his friend last July.

State police say Kevin Bennett II was driving too fast on a curve in rural Bridgewater when he lost control and crashed, killing 28-year-old Ryan O'Dell of Bridgewater in a rollover July 29.

Bennett was sentenced Tuesday in Oneida County Court for vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

He'll also lose his driver's license for a year and have to use an ignition interlock device for three years.
