HARTFORD, Connecticut — Hartford police are offering residents gift cards of $50 to $200 in another gun buyback event aimed at making the capital city's streets safer.

The buyback is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Pope Park Arroyo Center. Police say guns from other towns will be accepted, but only Hartford residents will get gift cards.

Officials will be giving out cards of $200 for handguns and $50 for shotguns and rifles.

The last gun buyback event in July netted more than 50 handguns, shotguns and rifles.

Police are collecting the guns in a collaboration with the groups Mothers United Against Violence, the Hartford 100 Man Movement, the We Works Coalition and Hartford Communities that Care.
