Jackson man given 40 years in prison for role in fatal shooting, robbery in Ridgeland

CANTON, Mississippi — A Jackson man has been sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for his role in a fatal shooting and robbery of a Ridgeland restaurant manager in 2012.

District Attorney Michael Guest says in a news release that 23-year-old Bobby Lee Allen pleaded guilty in February to armed robbery, accessory to murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Guest says Allen was sentenced to 40 years for armed robbery and concurrent sentences of 20 years for accessory and five years for conspiracy.

Allen's sentencing is the second in the death of 61-year-old Jose Ortiz.

In March, Robert Carson was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole.

Guest says Edward Clay has pleaded guilty to armed robbery and is expected to be sentenced in July.
