Authorities: Firefighter hurt while working to extinguish blaze at former Detroit auto plant


DETROIT — Authorities say a firefighter has been injured while working to extinguish a fire at the former Fisher Body automobile plant in Detroit.

WWJ-AM reports the firefighter fell Wednesday morning from a bucket on top of a ladder and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

WDIV-TV reports the firefighter fell as a portion of the building's facade collapsed.

Crews initially responded about 4:30 a.m. to extinguish a fire and they returned to the scene around 7:30 a.m. when the fire rekindled.

The cause of the fire isn't known.
