Storm warning issued in southwestern Virginia; coating of ice, up to 6 inches of snow possible

RICHMOND, Virginia — Parts of Virginia will start the weekend getting hit by another winter storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a storm warning for southwestern and western Virginia from Friday night through early Sunday.

The storm could bring an additional 6 inches of snow along with a thin coating of ice.

The storm follows a tough week in which parts of the state were hit by a winter storm on Monday along with record cold temperatures.
