DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines police say a 30-year-old man is in custody, accused of fatally shooting his neighbor.

Sgt. Jason Halifax said Monday that Patrick Kirwan is in Polk County Jail and is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 35-year-old Mark Hruska. Officers say they found Hruska's body at a residence next to Kirwan's near the Des Moines International Airport.

Halifax says officers think the men had been arguing before the shooting.

Online court records don't yet list the name of an attorney for Kirwan who could be asked to comment about the case.
