UW committee to launch presidential search next week

CASPER, Wyoming — The University of Wyoming will begin its search for a new president next week, with the search committee meeting for the first time Wednesday.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports ( ) that the committee is comprised of students, trustees, faculty, staff, foundation members and members of the public. The meeting is closed to the public, as the committee is not a governing body and the state's open meeting laws do not apply.

Current UW President Dick McGinity plans to step down next summer. Trustees hope to name a new president early next year.

The school has hired California-based Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates to help in the search. The firm will work closely with Brad Mead, the search recruiter selected by the trustees to add more local and state input into the process.
