Boy, 17, fatally shot in northeast Washington's Eckington neighborhood, near school

WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy.

Police say Andrew Newman of northeast Washington was fatally shot early Sunday morning. The shooting occurred in the Eckington neighborhood, near McKinley Tech High School.

Police say officers found Newman after they went to the scene to investigate the sound of gunshots. The teen was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police haven't released any information about suspects or a possible motive.
