Police: Teen arrested in shooting that left 1 dead, another injured in downtown Brooklyn

NEW YORK — Police say a 17-year-old boy has been arrested and is accused in a shooting that left a teenager dead and another injured at a busy intersection in downtown Brooklyn.

The New York Police Department says Friday that Malik Peters has been arrested on murder, attempted murder and weapons possession charges.

Sixteen-year-old Armani Hankins of Queens died after being shot in the head on Oct. 27. An 18-year-old man was shot in the ankle when the gunfire erupted at Dekalb Avenue and Flatbush Avenue Extension.

Witnesses told NBC 4 New York that a group of teens had gotten into a fight outside a McDonald's restaurant before they heard about 10 gunshots.

It was not immediately clear Friday night whether Peters had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
