AUSTIN, Texas — An ex-Galveston policeman must serve more than seven years in prison for having child pornography while working at the Texas attorney general's office.
Jose Luis Gardea was sentenced Monday in federal court in Austin. The 60-year-old Gardea in March pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.
Gardea was with the Galveston Police Department before doing security for the Texas AG's office.
Authorities say Gardea had nearly 180 images of females on a thumb drive found at his government office. Many of the images were of girls in sexually provocative poses.
Authorities say Gardea, who was sentenced to 90 months behind bars, acknowledged getting the images through an email account.
