South Dakota political candidates hit the July 4 parade circuit


SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — South Dakota politicians running for office have a full schedule for the holiday weekend, with more than 20 parades taking place this weekend around the state.

The Argus Leader reports ( U.S. Senate candidate Rick Weiland is taking part in five events Friday in Sioux Falls, Ramona, Watertown and Wentworth.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard will be in Lennox on Friday and his hometown of Garretson on Saturday. Lt. Gov. Matt Michels is attending events in Belle Fourche, Spearfish and Lead-Deadwood.

Independent U.S. Senate candidate Larry Pressler plans to run in a 5K run/walk in Sioux Falls, then visit a number of small towns Saturday.

He and Democratic governor candidate Susan Wismer have also driven tractors in recent parades.
