1 dead, 1 critically injured in what police call domestic dispute shooting in Pascagoula

PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Pascagoula police say a woman has died after being shot by a man during what is described as a domestic dispute at the office of nutrition program in Pascagoula.

Lt. Doug Adams says 47-year-old Sonya Wells Raine was found dead Monday morning at the WIC office. Her husband was also found shot there, but his name is not yet being released. He is in critical condition in a local hospital.

Adams tells local media outlets that no one else was in the building at the time of the shooting.

He says police received a call about the shooting at the federally-funded food nutrition warehouse shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.

Adams says police are still trying to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
