Raleigh police say man hit, killed by Amtrak train near North Carolina State University campus


RALEIGH, North Carolina — Police in Raleigh say a man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train near N.C. State University.

A police statement says officers and first responders were dispatched around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, they found the body of 51-year-old Maurice Sutton of Raleigh. Police said Sutton's body was found on Motor Pool Street, just west of the N.C. State campus.

Spokesman Jim Sughrue (shuh'-GREW) said Sutton was not affiliated with the school.
