Ohio man pleads guilty to murder, sentenced to life for the death of infant daughter

CLEVELAND — A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to murder and child endangering charges in the violent death of his 2-month-old daughter.

An autopsy says Renee Moss died April 10 of blunt force trauma to the head and body. Her parents, Brandon Moss of Warrensville Heights and 20-year-old LaQuonda Johns of Cleveland, were indicted on aggravated murder charges. Johns' trial is scheduled for Dec. 8.

Moss pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Monday in a Cleveland courtroom.

Attorney Donald Butler said Monday that Moss apologized in court for what happened to his daughter. Prosecutors said in a statement that Moss deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison.

The infant was pronounced dead minutes after arriving in the emergency room.
