St. Helena abolishes corporal punishment in schools

GREENSBURG, Louisiana — The St. Helena Parish School Board has stricken a policy that permitted corporal punishment in parish schools.

The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/11Y3hir ) the school system's policy now forbids the practice.

The change was requested by Superintendent Kelli Joseph, who told board members this past week that her administration does not condone the use of corporal punishment.
