HOPKINTON, Massachusetts — A teenage girl has been cited for motor vehicle homicide and speeding in connection with the death last year of a 13-year-old boy riding his bicycle in Hopkinton.

The boy was riding a bicycle near his home last September when he was struck by a car driven by the then 16-year-old girl.

The boy was identified by authorities as Shayne Desroches. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The teenage driver's name has not been released because of her age.

The girl was treated at a hospital as a precaution.
