Man found beaten on central New York street last week dies at Syracuse hospital


CORTLAND, New York — Authorities say a man found beaten on a central New York street has died from his injuries.

Police in Cortland tell local media that they were called late on the morning of Oct. 7 to Pine Street, where they found 29-year-old Jayquan Hines lying on the pavement.

Officials say he had suffered severe head injury and was taken to a Syracuse hospital, where he died Tuesday night.

Witnesses told officers that two men were seen leaving the scene.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

Cortland police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
