Biloxi woman faces fraud charges for alleging filing false insurance claims

BILOXI, Mississippi — A 30-year-old Biloxi woman has been arrested after indictment on fraud charges alleging she filed false insurance claims for medical treatment for injuries reportedly caused in a traffic accident.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1E843yb ) Nicole Laster was indicted on one count each of insurance fraud and wire fraud.

Attorney General Jim Hood said Thursday that Laster is accused of defrauding Sentry Insurance Co. by filing false injury claims and incurring medical bills at Biloxi Regional Medical Center by alleging her injuries were from a motor vehicle collision.

Laster was arrested in Jackson County by the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

It was not clear whether she has an attorney.
