MONTPELIER, Vermont — The Vermont Department of Labor says the state's unemployment rate has decreased for November, from 4.4 percent to 4.3 percent.

That compares to a national rate of 5.8 percent, which was unchanged from October.

Labor Commissioner Annie Noonan said Friday that employers in the leisure and hospitality sector are reporting a strong start to the winter season and are hiring.

Preliminary November data shows Vermont has added 1,100 construction jobs and 2,600 jobs in hospitality.

Around the state, unemployment rates ranged from 2.4 percent in Hartford to 5.1 percent in Newport.
