MEXICO CITY — Chivas moved up one place to third-from-bottom in the Mexican relegation league after the Guadalajara side beat Pachuca 1-0, while Leones Negros lost 3-1 to Toluca on Sunday.

Defending champion America is sixth after defeating Tigres 1-0, while Tijuana beat Morelia 4-2 and is top of the regular league after four rounds in Mexico's first division.

In other matches this weekend, Atlas drew 1-1 with Pumas, Monterrey similarly drew 1-1 with Veracruz and Santos Laguna beat Queretaro 1-0. Leon against Chiapas ended 1-1 and Puebla vs. Cruz Azul finished as a goalless draw.

Toluca's Edgar Benitez tapped in the opener in the 26th minute and Carlos Rodriguez volleyed a second goal 10 minutes later. Fidel Martinez pulled a goal back for Leones Negros with a free kick in the 85th but Benitez scored again two minutes before the end.

Giovani Hernandez converted a penalty for Chivas in the 64th after a controversial call from referee Luis Enrique Santander, while America's Dario Benedetto headed his team's winner against Tigres.

Tijuana took the lead after Ricardo Jesus converted a penalty in the 33rd minute. Dayro Morena made it 2-0 with a powerful strike 10 minutes into the second half before Morelia pulled one back in the 63rd.

But two more goals from Gabriel Hauche put the game beyond Morelia's reach.

Martin Barragan scored for Atlas in the 27th but Gerardo Alcoba salvaged a point for Pumas with a header just seconds before the final whistle.
