Martin scores 22 off the bench, Mount St. Mary's rolls past CCSU 82-51

EMMITSBURG, Maryland — Chris Martin finished with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting off the bench to lead Mount Saint Mary's to an 82-51 victory over Central Connecticut State on Thursday night.

The Mountaineers (5-9, 1-2 Northeast Conference) shot 50.8 percent from the field, committed just four turnovers and outscored CCSU 42-16 in the paint. Byron Ashe scored 11, Andrew Smeathers added 10 and Junior Robinson had 10 with five assists.

CCSU (2-14, 0-3) was held to 31.6 percent shooting and gave up 24 points off of 14 turnovers. Faronte Drakeford paced the Blue Devils with 12 points and a career-high 17 rebounds while Kevin Seymour contributed seven points and seven assists.

Mount St. Mary's jumped out to an early 10-0 lead as Smeathers and Robinson each sank 3-pointers and rolled to a 42-23 halftime advantage. The Mountaineers coasted in the second half, leading by as much as 36 with 7:38 remaining.
