SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — A man accused of raping and strangling a 56-year-old Sioux Falls woman failed to show up for a court hearing.

Forty-one-year-old Christopher Kryger is charged with murder, rape and burglary in the March killing of Kari Ann Kirkegaard. Kryger has pleaded not guilty.

Kryger failed to appear Monday for a motions hearing. His lawyers told Judge Mark Salter they had no idea why their client wasn't there.

Salter and lawyers in the case agreed to reschedule the hearing, but a date has not been set.
