Lafayette Parish grand jury indicts Scott woman in death of her 9-month-old daughter

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana — A Lafayette Parish grand jury has indicted a Scott woman on charges stemming her from 9-month-old daughter's death.

Christina L. Woods faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Authorities say Jewelz Brandel Menard died Feb. 6, 2012, at her home in Scott. The death has been under investigation by authorities ever since.

An autopsy revealed the baby had lethal levels of Oxycodone and Oxymorphone in her system.

The Advertiser reports (http://bit.ly/162fKaJ) the indictment against Woods was returned Wednesday.

It was unclear whether Woods has an attorney.
