Officials: Man charged with Tuesday slaying could be tied to wife's 2010 disappearance

ORLANDO, Florida — The man charged in the shooting death of a hotel employee inside an Orlando hotel's parking garage had previously been named as a person of interest in the 2010 disappearance of his wife.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office tells local Orlando media that 37-year-old Mathnald Dareus wasn't eliminated as a person of interest in his wife's disappearance because he gave investigators inconsistent statements about the events surrounding May 10, 2010. Dareus' then-34-year-old wife, Marie Delly, was last seen that day in the Naples area leaving work at Wal-Mart.

Dareus was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in the slaying of 49-year old Cedilien Forestal inside a garage at the Hyatt Regency on International Drive. Authorities say they don't believe the shooting was a random act of violence.
