1 killed and 1 arrested in shooting at Fayetteville home

FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina — Cumberland County sheriff's deputies have arrested a Fayetteville man and charged him with the shooting death of another man.

The sheriff's department said in a statement that the shooting happened around 8 p.m. Thursday when two neighbors were arguing.

Fifty-six-year-old Jimmy Lee Underwood has been charged with second-degree murder. It was not clear if Underwood has an attorney.

Forty-four-year-old Darrick Whitted died in the shooting.

Officers were called to Whitted's home after a report that shots had been found. Whitted was found in the street in front of his home. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
