Man robs Delaware bank, branch evacuated after robber leaves backpack behind

BEAR, Delaware — Delaware State Police say a bank in Bear was evacuated after a robber left behind a backpack.

It happened about 11:25 a.m. Monday at M&T Bank in the Fox Run Shopping Center. Troopers say a man gave a note to a teller demanding money.

Police say the teller gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash. The man fled, officers say, and left a backpack behind.

Authorities evacuated the bank until the state police explosive ordinance disposal unit determined that the item posed no danger.
