Man sentenced to 27½ to 55 years in slaying of man found dead in eastern Pa. arts center lot

READING, Pennsylvania — A man has been sentenced to 27½ to 55 years in prison in the shooting death of a man whose body was found in the parking lot of an eastern Pennsylvania arts center a year ago.

The Reading Eagle (http://bit.ly/17mSVyS ) says 35-year-old Jacob Santiago of Reading apologized to the victim's family and his own family before he was sentenced Monday in Berks County Court.

He pleaded guilty to third-degree murder and related charges in the May 2012 slaying of 24-year-old Alexander Stewart of Reading, whose body was found in the lot of the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts.

Defense attorney Michael Dautrich said his client had mental health problems.

Charges against three other people in the case are pending.
