Man admits serving as distributor, enforcer for drug ring run by violent Atlantic City gang

CAMDEN, New Jersey — An Atlantic City man has admitted working as a distributor and an enforcer for a heroin ring run by a street gang that used threats, intimidation and violence to maintain control of the city's illegal drug trade.

Federal prosecutors say 27-year-old Kamal Allen pleaded guilty Tuesday to several drug-related charges and a weapons offense. He could receive a life term when he's sentenced May 12.

Prosecutors say Allen was a distributor and enforcer for Mykal Derry, a leader of the street gang known as "Dirty Block," ''Crime Fam," ''," or "3.6."

Prosecutors say the gang controlled heroin sales through gun violence, including at least one homicide.
